Suzuki V-Strom 1000
« on: April 10, 2024, 06:38:51 PM »
Had my bike mechanic friend come to work today to take a look at my v-strom
As previously posted it all of a sudden got a fuel leak.
And even though the battery was charged the bike was completely dead.
I had already checked all the fuses including the 30 amp main fuse which was ok.
I had 2 batteries which were both charged.

So while I was working Steve started to work his magic.
After a while he rang saying both batteries are showing they are charged, but as soon as you put a load through them they both fail.
So a new battery was purchased then he then removed the panels and lifted the tank and removed the fuel unions. After a visual check they looked fine he cleaned them up including the o rings and fitted them back together.
He then turned on the ignition and the fuel pump started and no leaks, he pressed the starter and it started straight away and ran fine.
At this point he rang me I could hear the bike running 😃
He said it’s running fine now with no leaks. He finished putting the bike back together by this time it was my lunch time so went over to see him.
Now it was time to see if I could get on it anymore ( my mobility is not very good since having an operation on my knee) and sadly I now have the answer I can no longer get on my beloved V-Strom anymore so I have to make the tuff decision to put it up for sale ☹️

It's a shame as it looks an absolute cracker  :thumb: I loved my K6 and had it set up beautifully, but when they have to go, they have to go...

Best of luck with your sale.

It is a great bike I have had it since new.
I have all the original parts that I have changed. I will clean it and take some decent pictures and make a list of what I have done to it.

Sounds like a plan, you'll be surprised what you've changed over the years when you get on the case!

lol lol yes I think you are right there  lol
I will also be selling my Suzuki B-King ( which also includes all the original parts)
And also my Triumph 1200 Trophy which is pretty much immaculate and original.
As with the V-Strom I will clean these bikes and take decent pictures.
Not sure where is best to Advertise these bikes ?
I will offer the V-Strom on here first I think?

As a humble suggestion, I think the V-Strom forum for your beautiful V-Strom 1000. If it were me I would list each extra separately as there is a very strong demand for used V-Strom parts on the forum. The B-King might be best on Autotrader, as they are quite rare these days but there is an interest in that sort of bike. I suspect you might well get 'top dollar' for that one. The Triumph Trophy, probably an eBay job. There are lots out there and the price swing is massive, from a few hundered pounds to three/three & a half grand.

Best of luck with the sales  :thumb:

Thank you NorthumBryan I will have a sort out and get all the bits together 👍
I must Amit I have had 2 of the 3 bikes from new and I hate selling things 🤣
In fact I am not very good at selling stuff 🤣
My mate’s marriage broke up a few years ago and he had to sell his 4 bikes ( including a lovely Z 750 I sold him a few years earlier ) he needed money quick so he rang a number he found in the MCN somewhere up North and he came and bought all 4 and gave him good money for them.

Don't worry, eBay have an AI assistant to write your advert for you. No really, it does but it's a bit 'flowery' English it writs but it would do as a template.

My V-Strom was collected today, sad to see it go 🙁 but it is still in Essex with its new owner Marcin.  He is going to join v-Strom.co.uk and introduce himself.
I think the bike fits him well. My advice was to take it easy as he is coming from a 125 cc 🤔
