Forwards or backwards ?
« on: July 15, 2023, 07:28:41 AM »
I have a bit of a dilemma, my tigger is due to have it's first MOT at the end of November this year. The weather is almost guaranteed to be crappy, wet & horrible in Northumberland then and my bikes only get wet when being washed! So, do I move the date for the MOT forward to say the end of September when the weather is generally better or do I move the MOT date backwards to something like early April 2024? October is a bit of a risk as we could quite easily have heavily salted roads by then but equally I've been out in January & February when it's been dry. It's a novelty having a bike long enough to need an MOT too... Both options are technically possible, I've checked.

Your thoughts and inputs would be appreciated.

P.S. yes, I know I'm a tart...

If it was me I would get the MOT Backwards to April,  because you can finish off your riding for this year as it will still be in MOT until end of November.
And you can start afresh next year.
Just wondered if your Sorned your bike in the winter ?

I used to keep all mine taxed just in case I wanted to Ride any of them  lol
3 of my bikes the MOT has already run out except for the KTM ( which doesn’t need MOT yet as 21 Reg ) I was hoping to be able to try to get on them by now but not quite there yet

I tend to keep my bikes taxed for the year as it just saves the hassle and if you get that odd crisp, dry day you can nip out for a bit  :thumb:

Personally I'd go for September. If it's MOT'd more than a month earlier than the expiry date then the MOT starts from the day of the MOT, less than a month & the MOT starts on the expiry date. That way, if you are going to keep it taxed, then it'll be MOT'd & ready to ride.......... IF the weather is kind at some point.
