Quite some heavy rain today and boy did my new ybr not like that!

Managed to get her started and it cut out a few times, made it the 3 mile ride to work with a few splutters here and there.

When trying to start it just turned over and over with bo signs of life.
I had to bump it to get it going. Once running if it cut out it would strugglemto start on the electric starter but it get there.

Where do you think water is getting in to casue this? I was thinking around the spark plug..easy fix if that's it.

I had the same issue with the YBR125 Custom I had in 2009.
Luckily it had a kick start which I know the later models of the YBR didn't get.

The spark was shorting to the cylinder head from the HT lead, try some WD40 on the in/on the plug cap and along the HT lead.

I did this and had no further issues in the rain.

Great place to start and then give each side of the coil a good splash of WD40 too.

It's apparently a know issue with the YBR125.

I found out the same was a you on a brand new 09 plate Custom on my way to work in the rain.

I can also confirm when you get your finger between the shorting plug cap and the head your little pinkie will go numb for an hour!

lol.

I have had 2 other YBR Customs and never had this issue but then I did not have them for long before they both got nicked sooo....

Its been stuttering here and there and stalling today when I was out. It seems to calm down a bit when it warms up but still does it.

When on the way home the heavens opened and unleashed a torrent of rain like I have never seen! I got soaked through in less than a second...

but the bike.. just ran fine! No so much as a dropped rev. How strange.

Can confirm it's the spark plug lead.

Went to leave for work today and the bike did not want to start. Looking at the lead it was full of water.

Sprayed copious amounts of WD40 and it started right up.

I'll have to do something to stop water getting in.
