2023 ?

Well, it's nearly upon us whether we like it or not, 2023 is looming large on the horizon. Do we think 2023 is going to be better than 2022 or is it going to be a strike-ridden disaster ? What is the consensus ? What have you got planned for 2023 ?

To be fair, 2022 was pretty good on the whole for me, 25th wedding anniversary, dream holiday to Sardinia, Bologna & Venice and a trip to France on the tigger too. Work was good with a hefty (silly amount really) pay rise and some very nice bonuses (straight into the pension, no tax), we also got a new office too. But it's been a mixed year, I've lost a few friends including a school mate just after Christmas who was only 56 (RIP Eric) and my mate Gordon who I was supposed to be going to France with (RIP Gordon), so that's been sad. I have noticed I'm struggling to keep in touch with some friends and they are drifting slowly away due to time constraints. That's also a bit sad when you have to make appointments to meet people, isn't it ? For 2023 we have a holiday in Alsace booked for May and I'm hoping to get a few weekends on the bike sorted. I have a few people around the UK I need to catch up with and I think this year (23) it will be by bike.

First things first, happy birthday you old git 

I've got my boy due any day now, supposed to be 4th January but she's in early labour already. I'm seriously too old for this, wrong side of 40.

I had hoped to be doing a month in Aus/NZ in 2023 to follow Supercars around a bit but don't see that happening now.

Other than that nothing spectacular planned, working too much at the moment.

Wellfor me 2022 was not a good year after my Accident in early march, and 9 months later I am still on 2 walking sticks  !   But I am getting there slowly I have had some work done at home to make things easier for myself and my wife.
We have had the bath taken out and a walk in shower put in, and also had some handrails put up the stairs,  and on the 27th December I managed to get up the stairs for the first time since the 3rd march and I even managed to have a shower 
So a really big step for me.

So my goal for 2023 is to keep improving and to get walking unaided and getting back to work ( not getting paid anything from work now ) but most importantly getting back on my bikes  .

I'm 69 on Jan 9th and starting to feel old!!

Good luck with the recovery Asmith & hopefully it will speed up as time goes on.

Personally, a pretty good year last year, got out on the bike a fair bit & two decent 'tours' (Wales & Scotland) but, unfortunately, no overseas trips.
I know what you mean about losing touch with folk, we don't see quite a few good friends that we used to see most weeks, but they were more drinking friends & friends of our daughter so on the younger side & we were struggling to keep up now anyway!      A few others have moved away as well. But life changes and always will.
We've spent a good bit of today planning a few 'holidays' for this year, most will be on the bike, in the UK, but one to Normandy, a few in the car when we need all out bird watching stuff and a flight to Spain to visit our Niece.
Then hopefully lots of days out for a nice full English.
