Our Jubilee celebration went very well with hardly a bit of TV watched. We spent Thursday night in Glossop after a cracking run down the country via Middleton-in-Teasdale, Devils Bridge and the through the Trough of Bowland. Friday saw us start the day with Snake Pass, Hope Valley and the beautiful Winnats Pass, the Cat & Fiddle pass and then on to Prestatyn. Saturday saw a loop around Snowdonia (two busses met blocking the road for cars meaning a clear run for bikes - whoo  hoo) and back to Prestatyn on some fabulous back roads and then today saw a bit of a slog up the M6 and then over Hartside & home. We had a belting weekend, rode some great roads and had some great crack ! Oh, and the odd drink or two...

That sounds like a great weekend of riding.

What was The Snake Pass like? It was closed a couple of months ago due to the road collapsing, I know it's open now but have they sorted the road or is it single file/traffic light controlled?

There were a couple of sections of traffic lights on the way down (from Glossop) towards the Ladybower reservoir. We turned off the pass at this point and headed for the Hope Valley & Winnats Pass. It wasn't too much bother and at one set we sneaked past about a dozen cars  :thumb:

I think they've closed it again this week (don't know how long for) for resurfacing.

Edit.....sorry that was done in the last week of May, it was closed over the weekend due to a serious accident!

"Biker suffered 'significant injuries'
A Derbyshire Road Policing Unit spokesman said: "Single vehicle Collision involving motorcycle. Significant injuries sustained. Investigation ongoing."

Bugger. It does look like the sort of road you'll get yourself in quite a bit of bother with a 'moments lapse of concentration'. Or too much throttle...

The Mrs took a pic of me setting off on Thursday which I forgot about. Neither myself or the bike were that clean when I got back home on Sunday ! My new Dainese mesh jacket is incredibly ventilated and was a bit chilly at times. Bodes well for the summer (whatever day that will be) when/if it arrives.

Worryingly, the Tigger doesn't actually look that big with me on it...

Yeah, I don't think a week goes by without an accident on it and, too often, that will include a motorcycle, often as in the case here, with no other vehicle involved.
The Cat & Fiddle road is the same.
Sad to say, too many riders who don't know their limitations.

Agreed, sad but sadly predictable. We have the Hartside Pass relatively near which is often the scene of many a 'single vehicle accident'. Almost always sports bikes or modified cars or the odd 4x4 in bad weather. When the Ducati Panigale' first came out I nearly hit one who was running very wide out of a corner and dead centre in the middle of my lane ! Only blind luck my ninja like reflexes and demon skills saved the day and I had to take to the gravel at the very edge of the road. Not nice and the closest I've been to a head on crash, probably ever...

The Mrs refused to wash my underwear that day, straight in the bin...
