Jury duty
« on: March 12, 2022, 11:46:15 AM »
As the topic suggests I've been 'fortunate' enough to be selected for jury duty starting on Monday. Not looking forward to it but hey ho - I have zero choice in the matter. I shall let you know how I get on. Anyone here done it before ?

I have done it but quite a few years ago now,  very boring take a book with you as there is a lot of waiting around, and some days you might not even get called  :bang:
From memory they make up what you lose at work.

You might be lucky to get on a juicy case but obviously you can not talk about it  :thumb:

I've been told by several people to take a book and I've got a few backed up as we've not really been on holiday for two years due to the pandemic. i'll be happy when it's over...

First dull and rather monotonous day over. I dodged a bullet and avoided a case likely to run for 12 weeks

It's day 4 and what a p155 take this is ! I've been in court for a total of around two hours in three days, unbelievable. The lack of basic time and room management and general organisation is staggering. No wonder our legal system costs so much, it needs a thorough top to bottom shake up. I've even finished my book, that would normally last a week on 'oliday....

You couldn’t have made it up  lol

Fingers crossed today is the last day. We've got summing up and then deliberation, hopefully everyone's been watching the same trial as me ! The jammy sod's on another jury got discharged yesterday and don't have to come back next week. I hope we're finished by close of play tonight. I really don't know how the jury on the murder case (10 people on trial) will last for around 12 weeks - poor sods.

The ordeal is over and I don't have to go back for the second week, who hoo. I got the chance to play a part in finding a vile, paedophile scumbag 'guilty of all charges' AND see the look on his face when the verdict was read out. I have to be honest and say it was almost worth all the messing about for that moment alone. I hope that is my one and only time I have to do jury duty...

Cheers fellers, it was a bit grim at times and I am really pleased it's out of the way, but I will look back on it positively as a good experience overall  :thumb:

If you'd been quicker off the mark and committed a small crime leading to an arrest and a minimum of a caution, you'd have been excluded from jury duty
