Spear & Jackson mower
« on: April 16, 2023, 04:49:26 PM »
I have a spear & Jackson mower with a 4hp Briggs & Stratton engine, as many will know I have been off my feet for basically for a year since falling over and breaking my Tendon above my knee.
So the last time this mower was used was November 2021 ( last year we had a gardener come and cut the grass ) so this morning I managed to get the mower out of the tin shed (quite awkward while on one stick ) the mower had gone quite mouldy including the petrol can on top of the mower, well this petrol had been in the mower & the can since 2021, I smelt the petrol in the can and it didn’t smell to bad, so I pressed the prime button a few times and pulled the starter and it started straight away 😱 it did cut out after a couple of seconds, but I pressed the primer again 4 times and it started and ran really well, my wife started to cut the grass, after the first grass box empty she topped the tank up with the 2021 stale petrol and carried on cutting the grass.

To be honest I was amazed by this little mower starting after almost 18 months with stale E10 petrol.

Those little Briggs & Stratton motors take a lot of stick but just keep on going  :thumb:
