Depends on your budget. There's always sales on, especially at J&S. My last pair of Ducati branded (can't see it when my textile trousers are on thankfully) boots cost £80 on sale, end of line.

The Bikers Cafe / Another "Not Been Well" Thread
« on: June 25, 2024, 10:11:26 AM »
Not been around much recently.

Woke up Sunday morning on the 9th with my left arm like a dead weight. Assumed I'd slept on it and it would be OK. By lunchtime, it wasn't back to normal so I asked mum to drop me to the hospital after some online research that scared me crumpetless (I put that bakery item in, didn't know if the filter would pick it up).

Turns out I'd had a minor stroke overnight. I'd been to see my witch doctor on Saturday afternoon for a deep tissue massage which they reckon triggered it. There's a tear in the main artery leading to the brain in my neck. This had allowed a clot to form and, luckily as it turns out, the massage had broken this clot up. It was a ticking timebomb according to the specialist and is likely due to stress (the main reason I left my previous job in March so I blame them). I have been extremely lucky and I am recovering quite well. I've been going stir crazy for the last two weeks and I've another two weeks minimum off work. I have full motor function again but my muscles are getting tired so quickly at the moment. I've managed to do some light gardening (more like deforestation) in the past few days but it's wearing me out.

Worst thing is I'm not allowed to drive/ride until I've had another MRI and been given the all clear  :bang: Perfect weather for it too  :bang: Oh well, plenty of opportunity for cleaning them.

So if I sale the other 3 I have and just have the Harley then maybe in time I would by a 2nd cruiser type bike ??

See? Having three other bikes is saving you from the downward spiral into Milwaukee dildo ownership  lol

Ah well, the Repsol is now sold and being collected tomorrow by a bloke from Leeds who only deals with 125s.

Sent Ruby (Foxeye) off to start a new chapter of her life down in Tiverton, in the back of a bright red Vivaro, with her new owner. She will be getting a full nut & bolt restore.

125 Repsol is being collected tomorrow by a bloke from Leeds who deals only with 125s.

That's made space for Elvira, the FJR1300A I picked up a couple of weeks ago.

As of tomorrow, I'll be down to only 5 bikes  lol

Don't get me started. I had the 125 Repsol up on eBay listed as a non-runner/light project as all it needs is a new battery and MOT - I just don't have the time and space with 7 bikes. Had an offer which I acceted. Turns out it's Motorcycle Giant in Shepherd's Bush. anyway, courier comes to collect bike, gets on phone to buyer and confirms condition, all OK. Then he wants to hear it running so the courier pops a little jump pack on it but it won't start (no surprise considering the battery voltage is well under 3v so it'll just soakthat up). Then he tells the bloke to walk away because it won't start! FFS! I listed it clearly as a non-runner!  :wnk: :wnk: :wnk:

General Bike Chat / Re: Faulty ECU?
« on: April 19, 2024, 05:20:57 PM »
Are you sure that the wire you have concluded is the diag wire definitely is the diag wire? Maybe try connecting it to it's own bulb so you're not shorting two circuits together.

I doubt the ECU is at fault, they rarely fail and when they do it's usually down to user error.
