Title: My current squeeze
Post by: Prydeannie on April 22, 2021, 10:11:17 PM
Recently swapped out my fantastic Tracer 900 for this magnificent Explorer 1200. Looking forward to putting some serious miles on it this summer.

I have come so close a couple of times to buying one of those.

I’m loving it so far. It’s the XCA model and Triumph threw all the toys at it. Heavy old beast to lug in and out of the garage though.

Weight = quality.  And a bad back...

Weight=quality?? You never met my ex-wife, did you?

Nice bike, though. Happy post-lockdown trundling.

Looks great I'm sure it will do everything you ask of it.

I may have been generalising a bit. Harleys are heavy too...

Great choice of bike, but I am slightly biased...  :thumb:

Enjoy, I'm loving my Tiger 1200, previously had a Versys 1000 and a BMW R1200GS and prefer my Tiger.

Do you find that extra deflector on the screen helps?  I'm a short arse so am fine behind my screen but my wife reckons she gets buffeted about a lot on the back even with the screen right up (she's even shorter than me but that rear seat does sit a good bit higher than the front).

Previous to my Tracer, I had a Multistrada 1200.  I just can't get on with a big twin so the triple engines suit me much better.

I have a 'replica' of the XRT screen and a small spoiler and it does make a big difference for me. I'm 6' 2" and have the seat in the high position with some +50mm handlebar raisers and it's a nice buffet free place to be. There is a little bit of wind noise but it's very little and certainly not intrusive. I've actually just flipped the spoiler over so it has more 'overlap' with the screen and I'm going to try it out tonight after work to see if it's better or worse. I shall report back accordingly.

I actually have to replace my screen as the one blemish on the bike when I bought it is where a stone has clearly smacked it while the previous owner was, er, making progress.  I may order an extension to see if it does the trick with the pillion as I won't mind drilling into the current screen if it's being replaced soon anyway.

Mines a simple bolt on affair and it looks none the worse because of it. There are plenty of options out there the main thing I've found is to have the spoiler set a few degrees different to the screen angle for best effect.
