Title: Rear Ended!
Post by: Nagasaki on November 29, 2023, 01:25:28 AM
I stopped at a roundabout, the woman behind me did not.... Crunch. Was about a 5-10 mph hit at the most. I'm glad there was no one else coming round the outside lane of the roundabout or that would of been game over.

Bike got a few battle scars for it, Bent clutch and footpeg, Broken mirror and rear left indicator and cracked rear mud guard. And it feels like the handle bars are also slightly bent.

Otherwise all seems ok. Got a nice bruise on my knee where it hit the road. Sadly I did not have my bike pants on as they where soaked Monday in all the rain. I bet my whole left side is gonna be sore in the morning!

The thing is, The woman says she just wants to pay me to get my bike fixed. Im not gonna take anyone for a ride and I said it would be £147 for the parts on ebay. I have sent her the payment info to send me the money but no money, and no reply to the txt that she has seen. I got photos of my bike and her car.

If I don't hear back from her by tomorrow afternoon I will tell her Ill go via insurance to get this sorted.

Her reg shows as insured (doesnt mean she is) but she said she was not sure who she is insured with so Ill have to get my insurance to do the leg work and find out.

Fun times ahead. Only had the bike for like 8 months! And not long changed the parts that just got broke again  :bang:

Bugger! Pleased you're OK though  :thumb:

Sounds like you've been lucky (although it won't seem it at the moment), but any aches or pains get them checked out by the appropriate medical professional & get it documented, just in case. I agree, if she goes quiet get the police involved, it will help any civil cases. Even if she's not insured and the vehicle is you can still go after the insurance company. Good luck either way and to reiterate - glad you're OK to tell the tale.

It looks nasty but clearly could have been a LOt worse. Keep us posted and let us know how you get on. How are you feeling today ? All aches & pains or have you dodged an injury bullet, as it were ?

Still got a few sore bits and a bruise on my knee. Otherwise all good.

The woman dropped off the money today so that's good.

But from what I've seen and heard from this woman I don't think she is insured.

He stumbled and stuttered when I asked her name at the time of the incident. She really had to think about her number.

That alone is not enough to think something's up but the wanted to pay me is suspicious.

When she dropped of the money at my work place she took a photo as I was not there. She sent the photo on WhatsApp from the same number she gave me at the roadside.

But WhatsApp says he name is Becky. But she said her name is Tracey. But I did find her on Facebook
with the name Tracey and not Becky so who knows for sure.

At least she paid up in the end.
