After 18 months of being Catheterised and Awaiting a prostate operation I had a call yesterday the operation is being done on Saturday 😀
I have to be at the hospital for 7 in the morning. I am first on the list as I am a diabetic, I have to stop taking my Apixiban from tonight & Ramparil on Saturday.

Wow, good luck on Saturday :thumb:
I know it seems odd to be looking forward to an operation but it will make a huge difference to you. I can only imagine what an 18 month wait must feel like, I was climbing up the wall waiting 6 days in hospital for mine. Fingers crossed and let us know how it goes - no pictures mind...

Thanks chaps I will let you know how it goes 👍
-
Well Gents thank you for all your well wishes 👍
I had to be at Southend hospital for 7 yesterday morning only to find there was no beds lol there was 3 of us having the same Holep operation I was first on the list as I am diabetic and had to stop taking my blood thinners Apixiban on Wednesday evening, also nothing to eat after 10 pm on Friday, I was in the Theatre for 3 hours.
Once I got back to the ward I was pretty ruff and had a sleep for quite a while, the Surgeon came to see me about 7 in the evening and said the surgery had gone well and I was to stay in last night.
I managed to get Discharged lunchtime after being issued with Antibiotics (co-amoxiclav) and some injections to replace the Apixaban, so I am now home very sore and fitted with a catheter and a leg bag, I have to go back to the Hospital in 3-5 days to have the catheter removed and to see how I get on without it 😱 I may have to wear a pad for a while as it is likely to leak.

So pleased to hear you've got through it and got home. It sounds like it's been a success, so fingers crossed it's all good :thumb:

I managed a very gingerly walk up the road this morning to visit the cows in the farmers field 👍
Also I have had a call from the Surgeon asking how I was feeling ? As while I was in Recovery I was very tachicardic and my Heart rate went up to 164 so they were concerned, he also said come to the Hospital at 8.30 on Wednesday so they can remove the Catheter and see how I get on without one, he did say I might have to wear a pad for a while as I may have some leakage, I will let you know how I get on 👍

Sounds like you're in good hands. Great to see you've managed to get out & about too. I did a bit of hedge trimming today, it had me out of breath but it's done & I've survived!
-
Yes I agree I am in good hands 👍
Glad you managed to do a bit of Hedge trimming but just be careful I am sure you know your own body I know it is hard when you normally just get on with things, how are you feeling ?

I feel great, I really don't feel like I've had a heart attack, but I know I'm not 100% at the same time. I'm getting used to having to take a step back when heavy lifting is required, but it's difficult. I'm getting my head around the limits of my 'Mk2 life' at the moment...
Keep up the great recovery work :thumb:

Keep the recovering on track gents. Both doing well. :thumb:

Today I had to Attend the Hospital TRIAL WITHOUT CATHETER CLINIC (TWOC)
The Catheter they fitted when I had the operation was a 3 way and size 24 (about the same circumference of a BIC pen) the ballon they deflate was 45ml no wonder it was blinking painful 😱 the size I have been having for 20 months was size 16 about the circumference of maybe a pencil and the ballon they deflate 10ml.
The catheter was removed and to be honest it came out very easily.
I was then sent out to the waiting room to drink as much as I can and with a measuring jug and a form to record the volume of pee I had to stay for a few hours to make sure they were happy with the amount of pee, I also had to have a bladder scan to see if there was no bladder retention and that was fine so I was let home, it’s 15 miles from the hospital to home and I was hoping I’d get home quickly as I did not want to get caught out even though I had a pad on, well the A127 was typically running slow I was about 2 miles from home and the inevitable happened 😱
So after getting washed & changed I have been peeing Ribena colour most of the day but I expected that, I cannot believe the pee power lol imagine a garden hose with a spray nozzle lol
Let’s see how the night goes

Pleased it's out and you're on the mend, if a little leaky :thumb:

I've got my first 'proper' night out to contend with tonight since my HA. It's the sister-in-law's 60th birthday bash and we are staying over in a hotel (but not the one we are having the meal in... long story, typical of the wife's family). This is all new grounds for the 'new' me, so I will have to pace myself as I do get a bit tired these days. An early start (5:30pm to midnight!) and a late finish do note bode well, but I'm going to be steady away and I'll probably get a taxi back early as I can't see me managing until midnight. I shall be careful, but it's a test of what I can manage at the same time.

Oh ok just pace yourself and listen to your body. I am sure you will be fine and of course you are going to be tired especially as it’s your first proper night out. And if one of your relations says come on lad let’s get on it !! You know what to tell them lol.
Hope you have a great time just take it easy looking forward to how it all goes :thumb:

Well, that went well. We had a great night, myself & the Mrs slipped away at 10pm and headed back to our nice quiet hotel for a very peaceful nights sleep. The rest of the party carried on drinking until the quite large hours of the morning with the brother-in-law locking himself out and sleeping in the mother-in-laws greenhouse! Some very shabby faces at breakfast today I can tell you...
-
lol lol love a story like that lol lol
I am glad it went well for you both & you had a great time 👍
I don’t blame you both for slipping away at 10pm a good call by the sounds of it to miss the carnage lol

They were all going out again at 12:00 yesterday to repeat the events of the night before!!! The mrs cousin Lawrence chundered in bed and threw all the sheets & pillow cases in the washing machine at about 5am, apparently. I'm too old for all that nonsense, but my brother-in-law is 67 and still going strong...
