Title: Bird feeder
Post by: Asmith61 on February 10, 2023, 10:59:54 AM
We have a fat ball feeder out the front of our house, all day it is full of mostly song birds and we have a woodpecker that visits regularly, we leave it out as the birds do not feed at night, well yesterday morning my wife went out before work to top it up and it wasn’t there she looked around the drive and found it empty, she filled it up and replaced it, I looked on the security cameras and found the culprit !!

lol Yes. And  I feel a bit guilty taking the fat balls away from him☹️
I would like to put something out for him, I know they like peanuts and we have  feed them in the back garden with peanuts in a metal dustbin (  you may recall we had 5 badgers most nights)

Lovely to see the badger, even if it is stealing the bird feed. We're not getting many birds at the moment (all the neighbours have cut the hedges down and put fencing up!) but we've got two (very fat) Squirrels that the wife keeps feeding!

Well mick luckily our bird feeder is full of birds (when it’s still there  lol )
We ordered a new one from Amazon and while we waited for it to be delivered we put a squirrel proof one out which we had already, and our thinking was we don’t need to bring this one in as we didn’t think he would be interested!!!!
How wrong we were  lol
I wish I could post the video but I have taken some still shots from it.
So he now has of our feeders in his set  lol
And 2 still come in the back garden for the peanuts in the metal dustbin  lol

You seem to have a keen ornithologist badger, very rare these days  lol

Cheers NorthumBryan yes I think we have  lol
While taking these stills from the security cameras I found these they are from last year when we had 20 motorcycles ride past and the noise from them seemed to much for the squirrel and various birds only a bit of fun but I thought I’d share.

Nice, I was fortunate enough to see a Kestrel catch a mid-morning snack today at the rear of our office. It looked like a mouse or a shrew it caught and it was off like a rocket once it had it's prey in it's feet. Could be nesting early ?

Wow I bet that was a great sight, yes you could be right about nesting early.

A few years ago me & the mrs walked out the front door to get in our cars to go to work and there was a Hawk  on the drive eating a pigeon it was standing on it and eating it, I’d did get a video of it on my phone ( not sure if I still have it ? ) when the Hawk flew off the pigeon walked off in to the hedge 😱
