It's quite remarkable how quickly life can turn around. One minute it's all going swimmingly, the next and it's all change. I had the Mrs in Hospital a couple of weeks ago for a C/T scan and we got the results back and it's not brilliant news. Suzi has a 10mm 'object' in her lower left lung and a 'growth' on her adrenal gland. She is busy undergoing a series of tests to define exactly what both are at the moment and she had another C/T scan today, is having a blood test done tomorrow and a lung function test straight after that. On saturday it's into the Freeman Hospital for a PET scan. It brings it home the seriousness of things when you have to report to the North East Cancer Care Centre.
We have avoided the use of the 'C' word as have most of the medical team she has been involved with so far, but it's a very strong likely hood and something we both have to get our heads around. On the plus side all the Doctors & other staff seem very relaxed about things and seem to think it is a very early diagnosis, which is quite reassuring. It's been brought about by uncontrolled blood sugar levels and wildly fluctuating blood pressure, most likely due to the growth on the adrenal gland. I have to say the speed and thoroughness of various scans and tests has been impressive, the NHS is not broken in the North East just yet. I am adjusting to the new 'lifestyle' but it is quite an upheaval. I have to say my work have been superb and couldn't be more supportive, which is nice. The Mrs owns her company so they've been OK too ! Fingers crossed and I shall update accordingly.

Not the sort of news anyone wants to hear. Hope all goes well and my thoughts are with your wife, you & all the family.

In an ideal world, it would just be some sort of irritation caused by not having enough motorbikes.
Fingers and forks crossed it's relatively easy to get sorted.

Cheers chaps really appreciated, we got the PET scan out of the way today despite high blood sugar levels. It's the dreaded wait now to hear the results of the various scans & tests... I shall update in due course.

We got the results back today and it's excellent news ! The growth on the adrenal glands is a common phenomenon (called something I've forgotten already...) and the lump in her lung is just that, a benign lump. For safety's sake they are going to run the same tests again in 6 months time and then 6 months after that. If there's no change then its all clear. The sense of relief is quite immense I can tell you and I can now look forward to boarding the North Shields - Ijmuiden ferry tomorrow and heading South for a week of wine tasting in the Loire Valley. The Mrs and the rest of the group are going by train, which didn't appeal to me.
I thank you for the support that I have received on this here forum, it was very much appreciated and made a remarkable difference. You are a fantastic lot on here :thumb:
