Yes, as the title suggests I have it, badly. Right at the back on the right hand side. It's niggled for a few days now but came to a bit of a crescendo yesterday while I was out with MorpethMatt and our wives for lunch. I got up today and it's just pounding away, like someone sticking a knife in your gum and then twisting it. At the dentists at 09:30 to see what's required, my money's on an extraction... Certainly from my wallet.

Ohhhh there is nothing worse than toothache hope you get it sorted :thumb:
-
I drew a blank at the dentists today, the X Ray machine was on the blink and by the time I got there all the painkillers had kicked in and they didn't want to do anything drastic unless I was 100%. Back tomorrow morning...

Success of sorts today, the X Ray machine is working and it looks like my tooth is not cracked all the way down but has a little crack above the gum. They've drilled into it and the nerve is starting to die off which is causing the pain. I need a root canal done which is booked in for the 21st of January. Fingers crossed the temporary 'repair' lasts until then.

Fingers crossed for you mate :thumb:

It's still piggin' sore but nothing like before, not the way I had planned my birthday...
-
No I bet not !!! Happy birthday 🎂🍻

Last time I had a toothache like that (back molar) I had to visit an emergency dentist as we were away on holiday. The cause was an abscess under the tooth. The dentist gave me two options, he could 'release the pressure' or take the tooth out completely! I wasn't in any mood to make decisions so asked him what he would do if it was his.
"Take it out." was his reply, mine was "Get on with it". Still missing now and didn't notice it missing after a week or two!! :thumb:
Best thing was it cost me less than £20 (about 10 years ago) because it was classed as an emergency or something similar.
Happy birthday! :thumb:

Cheers for the birthday wishes fellers, most appreciated. The tooth is still a bit on the tender side but nothing like it was. I still can't eat normally so it's soups & soft foods at the moment. Thankfully wine goes in OK so I'm warming up for New Year with a bit of Viognier followed by some very special Cava for midnight.
Have a great 2022 folks :thumb:

Well it's 03:32 and I'm up taking painkillers, again. Tooth screaming, very little sleep - looks like an emergency cal out today (at a sensible time) and a tooth out. Wish me luck...
-
Oh no 🙈
Hope you manage to get seen today mate 🤞
-
Been to the dentists today for an emergency call out - no nurse available so I can't get it removed today, aarghh. Booked in for 15:30 tomorrow and I'm now on antibiotics to try and get the 'elephant man' like swelling down. Not a happy bunny...
-
Oh bloody hell !! Feel for you mate hope you get sorted tomorrow.
Let’s hope the antibiotics start to work 🤞
-
I feel for you too!! Just reading about it makes my eyes water remembering the pain I had!
Hope it gets sorted tomorrow. :thumb:
-
Cheers fellers, I never thought I'd actually look forward to getting a tooth removed...
-
Tooth out ! I got a cancellation for 10:45 and the buggers out at last. Huge abscess underneath which has been causing the grief. Sadly, the same abscess tastes & smells horrible and is now weeping out of the socket, yuk. OK now but i'm sure I'll be a bit tender when the injections wear off...
-
Glad the tooth is finally out :thumb:
As for the abscess you could gargle with salt water I have been told it has good healing properties!!
-
Yes, that's the plan after 24hrs to give it a good rinse out. Looking forward to a very soft breakfast tomorrow, probably porridge.
-
Glad it's sorted. The tender feeling will be a lot better than the original toothache!! I agree with the salt water. I also find that alcohol works well!
-
Cheers Mick, it's getting a bit better today but the remnants on the abscess keep leaking out and the taste is horrific. Plenty of slat & water rinses are helping to keep my gob fresh (ish).

It doesn't seem like 5 mins but roll on a few weeks and I'm back at the dentists, again. A shard of bone which must have been dislodged during my recent extraction has made it's way to the surface and started sawing away at my tongue. Thankfully, it came out without a fight and was only about 1mm x about 5 or 6mm but felt like a kitchen knife to my tongue. The dentist was great and just howked (a technical Northumbrian term) it straight out without fuss or ceremony. Sorted, for now...
-
Oooh that sounded painful glad it’s sorted for you now :thumb:
-
Cheers, to be fair to the dentist he said the injection to numb the area would hurt more than just pulling the bit of bone out - he was right !
-
:smirk: let's hope that's it this time!! :thumb:

Fingers are soooo crossed...
