General Bike Chat / New EU Toy
« on: April 13, 2024, 11:58:31 AM »
Picking her up next weekend. Purchased recently by a mate who found her too heavy. Before that one owner from new, always garaged. 54608 miles, full history. I thought she'll be ideal for Europe over the VFR because she's a shaftie rather than chain drive and she has factory panniers with Givi top box; plus at £1700 she's a steal. Comes with the OEM exhaust as well plus extra screen. She's even got all three keys including the red master key

MOT'd today and being delivered to my door tomorrow lunchtime. K1 600, dirt cheap because it was Cat D repaired in 2005. Mileage 42k which also helped keep the price down. I'll run it for a bit to get used to it, then it'll be track prepped to satisfy my growing itch, I've not been on track for 8 years.

First holiday since before lockdown, all of which I worked through. No work phone and no worries for a week  :)))

Already found out I've forgotten most of the Spanish I knew and I was fairly fluent several years ago  lol

Video Clips / Ghost XL Test Run
« on: June 19, 2022, 04:15:41 PM »
Mounted it to the mirror stalk of the VFR for a test run.

Video quality is excellent, although I may need to look at a mount with built in suspension  lol

Wind noise without the external mic plugged in is fookin terrible! I've had to reduce the volume in the editor by about 60%.

For Sale / BT023s
« on: June 11, 2022, 11:12:37 AM »
Part worn BT023s, just removed from the VFR this morning. Too good to go for scrap. Rear is nearly new with around 5-6mm tread, front has around 3-4mm tread. Both still in great shape and not squared. Chicken strips are minimal, reduced from a mile wide since I bought the bike

120/70ZR17 & 180/55ZR17

£50 collected from North Birmingham B44

Picked her up yesterday. She's going to take a bit of getting used to being a V4 and not IL4 (my last V4 was an NC24 race bike about 12 years ago).

Initial impressions are good. The BT023s on her are going though in favour of some Angel GTs after pay day. She's still on OEM hoses so I'll be ordering a set of braided lines from Wez. Forks are a little soft for my liking, there's a bit of dive under braking. For now I'll just twiddle the settings and replace the fork oil with something a bit thicker and see how it goes before investing in new springs. Same goes for the rear shock, a bit too soft for me. The clutch needs a bit of adjustment, the lever is quite far out and the bite is too, hopefully just an adjustment needed on the lever itself. The brakes too need a bit of attention, hopefully also just a lever adjustment. Eventually I'll treat her to a set of Pazzo levers but I have other pressing expenses to consider.
In the meantime, I need to read the book and figure out how to adjust the clock. A man reading a manual? Whatever next?  lol

Pictures / The Current Collection
« on: April 05, 2022, 10:35:45 PM »
Anyone who knew me from the old forum will know that I've had dozens of bikes over the years and my collection changes fairly frequently. Sadly, due to the need of building a new workshop, I've had to reduce my collection, for now, to 3 bikes.

Firstly, my pride and joy, Amara. 1995 CBR893 FireBlade.

My daily, Ruby. 1996 FZR600R.

Upcoming resto project, Meg. FZR400R 3EN2.

And an old photo that some of you may remember from 2008. Mr Doo himself, famously annoying the 'Busa and GSXR boys by blasting past on the outside of mountain bends, blowing raspberries, at the TT  lol
